Marquee for a School Event
September is here, and that can only mean one thing for us mums! Summer time has passed, the uniform shopping has been done and the new school term begins. This is a whole new world to me! My daughter is 4 ½ years old so the 5th September was in fact her first day at big school. Fortunately for me, she has been super excited about it for ages and ages. We are lucky enough to be able to walk to school, and on the day she ran all the way there, and then sauntered off into her classroom (or should I say new adventure) without a care in the world. Thank god.
Now, are you asking the same thing, what happens now? Well, for some of us, work beckons of course. And let us not forget, if you are just like me, there is another little person at home (or at nursery today) so we won’t be resting on our laurels will we! Hell no! I have already signed myself up to the PTA (why oh why) and this weekend I will be taking part in my first ‘Gardening Day’ at school!
The school has given us a list of what they want and/or need and the PTA have been frantically sourcing what is required. We have plants being donated for the school playground, as well as tyres sourced for the kids to paint before more planting happens with those. I have been thinking what else can we do to raise money for the school…
Fortunately our school has a large garden & playground area and various events are held in this wonderful space. There is the Christmas Fair, Harvest Festival, May Fair & Summer Fair, and of course Sports Day next year! Perhaps we could organise a Christmas Ball too for the parents? Maybe a Summer Picnic event or even an Open Air Cinema?
Luckily, I own a marquee company and we often supply marquees to schools for these sorts of occasions because they provide extra venue space and a roof over our heads should the weather turn on us. Marquees are brilliant for setting up individual stalls for fairs, and the larger size marquees can often hold bouncy castles and many other fun activities for all the kids and parents involved! I am really looking forward to this school year, especially as tonight’s PTA meeting is in the local pub!
